What are the biggest challenges preventing fuel cell vehicles from becoming mainstream, and how can they be overcome?
It would seem to me that the largest barrier currently is simply public adoption.

A widespread hydrogen refueling infrastructure is lacking, especially compared to gasoline or electric charging networks. Also, consumers are unfamiliar with hydrogen technology, not to mention the limited number of available FCVs available.
